Benefits of Eco-Friendly Bedding

We have all heard the phrase “you are what you eat,” often as a stern warning from mothers when we struggle to finish our vegetables.  But, a new twist on the age-old saying needs to be introduced…”you are what you sleep on.”  Organic, eco-friendly clothing has become a popular trend, but organic bedding is close on its heels.  In a world where slight environmental alterations can cause allergic reactions in people of all ages, it is good to know there is a safer alternative, particularly while we sleep!  Wendy Martinenas, an associate at William Raveis Southport, explains the benefits of eco-friendly bedding in her post below.  She also references a very informative article on the subject.  You can read more about eco-housing and living on her blog.

Real Estate Lessons from Comic-Con

Every year, Comic-Con never fails to deliver surprises and excitement to hundreds of thousands of comic book, movie, television and novel lovers.  This year, Comic-Con boasted 125,000 eager spectators, meandering through displays of the latest and greatest in entertainment, technology and comic-style writing.   The event had crowds reeling with anticipation, showing previews of every major television show and movie, from a 2-minute spoiler of the upcoming season of Dexter, to a killer teaser of genius, Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained.  To add icing to an already spectacular cake, Robert Downey Jr., star of the upcoming Marvel classic, IronMan 3, made a guest appearance, to the delight of young and older fans alike.

Doing the Numbers

Our June housing data came out last week and we would like to share the latest a greatest housing numbers throughout the northeast with you.  There has been alot of talk over the last few months on whether or not the market has ‘hit bottom’ and is entered steady stabilization.  While the cliche “all real estate is local” is key to the housing market, it stands to say that nationally, the housing slump has finally come to an end.  An article posted a few days ago in the Wall Street Journal reiterated this point.  “The housing bust is over,” as it so succinctly says.

Most Popular Homes of the Week

We’re hearing some more good rumblings on housing this week.  HomeGain recently conducted a survey of over 400 agents and 1,700 homeowners and the results were encouragingly positive.  Nearly 50 percent of brokers expect home values to increase.  Over the next couple of years, the news is even more positive, with 82 percent of real estate professionals and 50 percent of homeowners saying home values will increase.  If you’ve been following the local trends in your market, you will be able to have a comprehensive view of factors that will impact home values in your area.
