Start Planning Your Summer Vacation Today

I have a bit of a theme going this week: I’m dreaming, hoping and can’t-stop-thinking about Spring. And Summer. It’s been a bit of a long winter, and I’m feeling a bit of cabin-fever start to creep in. Even though the Northeast is still (in late, late March) dealing with snowstorms, freezing temperatures and abnormal wind chills, I’m holding out hope that Spring and Summer are on their way. Even if they are delayed.

Current Market Conditions: February 2014

In February 2014, as compared to February 2013, Average Sales Price* rose consistently throughout the Northeast, with Connecticut, Massachusetts and Westchester County seeing 13.6%, 14.6% and 23.8% increases, respectively. Months of Supply continued to fall, with Westchester County seeing a 28.9% decrease in February.

Stamp of Approval: Homeowner Flood Insurance Affordability Act

Last week  the Senate voted 72-22 to approve the bipartisan Homeowner Flood Insurance Affordability Act. The bill prevents flood insurance rate increases for property owners across the country, and the President is expected to sign the bill in to law when it reaches the White House. We’ve outlined the key points of the bill that will take effect once that final step is taken.

A Look Back and a Glance Forward

The Coastal Properties Group and the Coastal Living Gallery hosted a very special event in February.  On the evening of Valentine’s Day an exhibition celebrating family, unconditional love and beautiful Rhode Island real estate, opened with a wonderful turn out.  The reception occurred, miraculously, during a short lull between frequent New England snowstorms.  During the exhibition, a rare family creative was presented, with Shari and Christian Rubeck and their two talented young children, Skyla and Desi, presenting drawings, sculptures, paintings and 3D-animation.
