World Cup 2014: Where to Watch?

Looking for the best bar to watch the World Cup this year? The atmosphere has to be right—someplace where there are fans just like you. Watching the World Cup is a very serious matter to most, so the bar has to be perfect. Looking across Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and New York, it can be difficult to find the best spot to catch all the World Cup action. Luckily we’ve taken some of the guess work out of it.



In New Haven County, there is a small, nbut very popular bar called Anna Liffey’s, located on Whitney Ave in New Haven, CT. This bar is right in the downtown area of New Haven, with is festive decorations and stone walls inside the bar, you’ll sure to feel like you’re part of the match. Anna Liffey’s has been ranked by Buzzfeed, Nike and as one of the best spots to watch the World Cup.

If you’re closer to the shore line, then you might want to go check out Tigin Irish Pub in Stamford, CT. This Irish Pub has been selected as one of the best bars in Fairfield County to watch the World Cup. If you like to enjoy delicious food and be loud while watching the games, then this is the place for you to be. Plus, you can enter their bracket challenge to win prizes!

In the Hartford area? Then you definitely want to stop in at Vaughan’s Public House, which is located on Pratt Street, Hartford, CT. They have great specials and plenty of beers on tap. This is a definite hot spot to watch the 2014 World Cup—the bartenders even wear jersey-themed uniforms year-round.


Boston has a huge number of sports bars, but if you’re looking for one with a World Cup focus try The Banshee in Dorchester. This bar prides itself on being your second home during the World Cup and is home to the Boston chapter of the American Outlaws, the supporters group for the United States national team.

If you happen to be on the Cape, then you might want to try hitting up Dino’s Pizza & Sports Bar, its located on Route 151, Mashpee, MA. This is a small quant sports bar that will sure to be playing all sorts of sports.. A word to the wise, if the Sox are on, the World Cup will probably get the boot.

If you’re father west, Rumbleseat Bar & Grille will be sure to give you the full World Cup effect. They are having a watch party, which is open to the public. They will be having 10 cent wings and half priced pizza, as well as giveaways for the fans in attendance. This is sure to be a good time, so if you’re in the area, be sure to stop by!

New York

New York City’s most popular soccer bar goes to Nevada Smiths. Located on 100 Third Ave, New York, NY, this bar is said to be an amazing experience for soccer fans—that is if you can get in. It can get very crowded during this time, so it is suggested you get there early!

If you’re looking in Westchester, then you will have to check out Smokehouse Tailgate Grill, they are a fun loving bar, and definitely a spot to go catch the games at. They are offering a $5 beer and a specials menu for the duration of the games. The coolest part about it: at least 5 of the beers are inspired by the countries playing.

Rhode Island

If you’re closer to the Ocean State, then there is certainly a bar for you. Spats Restaurant & Bar is located on Angle St, Providence, RI. This is a great sports bar for any kind of soccer fan; this bar will most certainly be packed.
