The Myers’ Family has a very personal connection to the Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation. Kim Myers, a licensed real estate salesperson in William Raveis’ New York City office, talks about her dad’s fight with Multiple Myeloma on her family’s William Raveis Ride + Walk page.
“Cancer has affected all of us in some way during our lifetime, whether it be a family member, friend, co-worker or even our own cancer. It became very personal for our family when our dad was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma five years ago. He continues on the road to recovery and our ties with the Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation have been short of a miracle. Thanks to Damon Runyon, our Dad was introduced to a former Damon Runyon research fellow currently at Yale/ Smilow, and he was able to participate in an early stage trial which has delayed the progression of his cancer to an active stage. As of now, there is still no cure to Multiple Myeloma and that is part of what Damon Runyon Cancer Research is working towards.
The William Raveis Charitable Fund is partnering with Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation. Our association with Damon Runyon expands our focus to all forms of cancer, and also brings a new approach. Damon Runyon focuses on curing the root of cancer by finding brilliant and daring young scientists and providing them with funding, mentorship, and a community that enables them to do groundbreaking work (Did you know Albert Einstein was 26 when he first published his groundbreaking research?). The grants provided by Damon Runyon have led to 12 Nobel Laureates. Today, their scientists are at the forefront of every promising area of cancer research. Equally as impressive is the fact that 100% of their donations go towards funding cancer research, as well as 100% of what we raise from the William Raveis Ride & Walk will go to Damon Runyon.
We are asking for your participation. Please join our family as we participate in the Ride + Walk event in Fairfield, CT on September 12th. 100% of the proceeds from this event will be donated to Damon Runyon. If you can’t make the event, you can support us in the Ride + Walk by donating here – any amount would be helpful.”
The Myers Family is participating in the Fairfield, Conn. ride, and has raised over $10,000 to date! The support them, or any of our other participants, visit www.raveisridewalk.com.
