William Raveis: What drew you to the real estate industry?
Dante DiSabato: My family has been in the real estate and development business since before I was born, so it was natural that I would have the real estate gene. I grew up in the business, learning development, sales, and marketing from a very young age. Personally, I started in 2009 but didn’t do general sales until 2012. Joining Raveis gives me a great opportunity to learn and grow my team (father and daughter duo Ted and Lauren Wilmering, and Michael Obyc) in a larger professional environment where we can utilize the amazing tools that William Raveis Real Estate provides — it puts us in a position to succeed.
WR: Where did you grow up and where do you live now?
DD: I grew up in Columbus, Ohio, and went to college at Miami University (Ohio). I moved to Naples, Florida in 2009 and live a stone’s throw from some of the most beautiful golf courses and beaches in America.
WR: Name one celebrity, dead or alive, who you would like to sell a home?
DD: I would love to sell a home to Frank Sinatra because there is a code with guys who shook Sinatra’s hand.
WR: Name 5 things that most people don’t know about you.
DD: 1. I’m a 3 handicap on the golf course. 2. I started a mixed martial arts company while still in college. 3. I don’t like roller coasters. 4. I fall asleep in movie theaters. 5. I played Division I college baseball.
WR: You are stranded on a deserted island for one year, you get to bring 3 things – Tell us what they are.
DD: My phone, my girlfriend and Don Julio 1942 — not necessarily in that order (but probably).
WR: Most used feature on Raveis365? Most used app on your phone?
DD: It’s hard to pick, but if forced I’d say my email on both Raveis 365 and my phone! Staying connected is everything. I am keenly aware of the real estate community on social media and the MLS, analyzing daily developments and marketing my own properties and listings actively. I know how crucial marketing it is to my process. This isn’t a hobby for me. This is full-time, 24/7, 150% all day, all the time.
WR: What is the best advice you received from your parents or loved ones?
DD: Treat people the way you would like to be treated, work hard and stay humble. I am grateful to have developed my work ethic from my family and my education. On a typical day I’m usually up before 5 a.m. and I’ll try to get in a workout. Then I’ll study the market. Sometimes I’ll even study the market and do some research before I even go workout — just to see what’s come on the market that day. I want to know as much as possible for my clients.
WR: If you weren’t in real estate, what would be your dream job?
DD: A sports agent. Playing Division I baseball in college honed my appreciation for professional sports and, oddly enough, two of my closest friends and roommates from college are now coaches in the NFL, so I feel a real affinity to the world of professional sports.
WR: What are your favorite local activities that you participate in?
DD: I play golf and enjoy time with family and friends. I also spend time being on the committee for the Gentleman Against Domestic Violence for the Shelter for Abused Women and Children charity here in Naples. It’s important work and the organization does a lot of good. I’m really proud to help out in any way that I can. I am also involved with the James Cancer Hospital at The Ohio State University.
WR: Fill in the blank: Your day cannot begin without _____?
DD: Writing in my journal.
