Second Annual Raveis Ride + Walk

Calf Pasture Beach in Norwalk, Connecticut was the site of William Raveis Real Estate’s second annual Raveis Ride + Walk benefit for the Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation on Oct. 16th, 2016. The charity event raised $1 million in two years for cancer research.

Spotlight ON: Serena Crowley, Homeowner & Architectural Designer

Serena Crowley, an architectural designer in CA, Chicago, CT & London) was on the hunt for a new house in New Canaan and William Raveis agent, Hannelore Kaplan was tasked with the job.  (The two have a great friendship they’ve developed over the years in New Canaan).  She discovered that this gorgeous home at 64 Oak Street (only a 10 min walk from the train station) was to be made into a multi-family condo and showed the exterior to Serena.  They contacted the owners, a couple that had lived there since the 1940’s, and together they made an offer.

Just a half-hour ferry ride from the center of Boston, Hingham, MA is a commuter’s waterfront paradise.  Leaving work to head to Boston’s South Wharf and boarding a ship home is reminiscent of older Boston times.  It’s got a classically American feel to it; coming home by sea.  Founded in 1633 and named Bare Cove before its current moniker became permanent two years later, Hingham is 23 miles to Boston proper.  For its waterfront dwellers, suburban life outside the city has some amazing perks.  If you were to visit on a weekend, here’s what our locals would have you do.

July 2016 Housing Data

In July 2016, as compared to July 2015, Unit Sales* as well as Average and Median Price, were up throughout the Northeast. Westchester County, NY saw a 18.4% increase in Unit Sales, while Connecticut saw a 9.9% jump. Inventory and Months of Supply continue to fall across the region, with months of supply dropping to 4.4% in Massachusetts, down from 5.3% a year ago.
