Serena Crowley, an architectural designer in CA, Chicago, CT & London) was on the hunt for a new house in New Canaan and William Raveis agent, Hannelore Kaplan was tasked with the job. (The two have a great friendship they’ve developed over the years in New Canaan). Just a half-hour ferry ride from the center of Boston, Hingham, MA is a commuter’s waterfront paradise. Leaving work to head to Boston’s South Wharf and boarding a ship home is reminiscent of older Boston times. It’s got a classically American feel to it; coming home by sea. Founded in 1633 and named Bare Cove before its current moniker became permanent two years later, Hingham is 23 miles to Boston proper. For its waterfront dwellers, suburban life outside the city has some amazing perks. If you were to visit on a weekend, here’s what our locals would have you do.

But departing a dock on a ferry bound for a perfect little island with the wind in your hair has got to be one of our favorites. Leaving mainland USA yet not straying too far from home is one of those limitless journeys that have you feeling free. Luckily, we have the best spot in mind for your next vacation, and its Nantucket, MA. We’ll even rent or sell it to you, too, as we have a William Raveis office located in the center of town on Oak Street.
