Happy International Women’s Day! Today, and every day, we celebrate the glass ceilings that women have broken & are still breaking. Here’s to all the strong, powerful & inspiring women we’re lucky enough to call colleagues and friends.
Continuing our #WomenAtRaveis series, our first feature this week is real estate agent, Elizabeth Crowley; click here to read more about her.

How long have you worked in real estate? How did you first start? What attracted you to Raveis?
I had always had an interest in Real Estate and at my first job out of college at a publishing company in Back Bay, I was so bored that I had a lot of time to think about what I wanted to do next. I decided to take the plunge in the summer of 2007 and I never looked back, and was never bored again! In 2011 I was living in the South End and working for an online brokerage no one in Boston had heard of. I did a sales deal with Henry Kennedy from Back Bay and we hit it off. He encouraged me to meet with the William Raveis sales managers in Boston and at that time the South End office was just opening up right around the corner from my apartment so I decided, Why not? And I am so glad I did! As of this month I have been with the company for 10 years.
What do you love about real estate and why? What excites you about the business?
Whether I am helping someone buy their first home, or sell the house they’ve lived in for 30 years, it’s always rewarding to help my clients achieve their biggest life goals. I still get so excited every time I get an offer accepted for my clients. It’s the best feeling! It never gets old!
Do you have a mantra that you follow for your business, real estate, or in general?
Work Hard and Be Nice to People!

What does Raveis mean to you?
Family
What’s your best advice for someone new to the industry?
Never give up and try your hardest to keep a positive mind set. If you maintain a good attitude and consistently put in the work, the success will come, I promise!

For our second feature we have Director of Marketing and Agent Concierge Services, Emily Pettersen; click here to read more about here.

How long have you worked with Raveis? How did you first start? What attracted you to Raveis?
I’ve been with the company for 4 years. I wanted to be with a company that cares about its employees.
What sets Raveis apart as a company? How would you describe the culture?
Raveis is flourishing. In the time of the pandemic, they stayed focused on what matters most to their clients, and they’re not losing sight of it. The Raveises keep coming up with top-tier marketing tools, and state-of-the-art technology which allows me to help the agent build their business. Take it to the next level.
What do you love about real estate and why? What excites you about the business?
One thing that I can confidently say is that you never stop learning. While it can be intimidating to not have an answer for everything, as someone that loves learning, my job provides a smorgasbord of things to learn. Market trends, new technologies, social media, and the things that just pop up in every deal means there’s always something to learn.
Describe a typical day in the life.
There is never a dull moment. Things are constantly changing, adapting and homes are being bought and sold more than ever before. But no matter the state of the economy, or market, things are always happening, and each day is different. Some days I’m designing ads or agent brochures while other days I have back-to-back agent meetings.
What are your greatest strengths?
Problem Solving. Each project comes with its own challenge. Obstacles are thrown in causing us to be quick on our feet, solving the problems as soon as we get them. Along with problem-solving, comes the satisfying feeling of accomplishment. After a big project, there’s nothing better than scratching something off your list, putting a checkmark, or signing your name on the finished project.
What does Raveis mean to you?
A family-owned business and that everyone is working together towards the same goals.

For our third feature we have Operations Managers and VP of Strategic Growth for William Raveis, South Florida, Coco Amar; click here to read more about here.

How long have you worked in real estate? How did you first start? What attracted you to Raveis?
I started my career in real estate in 1987, in Los Angeles, CA. Since that time, I’ve worn many hats, including syndicator –I created RE partnership in the greater LA Basin and managed them; developer; real estate agent; brokerage owner; and brokerage manager/broker as well as coach. I earned RE Instructor Licenses for the state in both Montana and Florida and developed course work for both.
I was initially attracted to Raveis because of Bill’s ambition to have 30+ offices in the state. My interest was confirmed once I met Molly and Matt Lane. I guess I am attracted to hard working intelligent people 😊
What sets Raveis apart as a company? How would you describe the culture?
In my view the leadership is what sets Raveis apart. I believe in leading life fearlessly and Bill Raveis embodies that belief to a T.

What do you love about real estate and why? What excites you about the business?
I love real estate because it never ceases to allow me to grow. I not only find new things to learn about daily — like transactions, laws, rules, negotiation tools, etc — but I also learn about human nature, and I learn about myself.
Do you have a mantra that you follow for your business, real estate, or in general?
I have a few:
Life begins at the edge of your comfort zone.
Success is meeting the commitments you make to yourself.
Follow you heart. Live fearlessly. Take no prisoners.

Describe a typical day in the life.
The demands on my time are extremely fluid. Because of that, I am big into scheduling/time blocking in order to get bigger projects done. I spread my presence among 3 offices; I coach about 12 agents at any one time and spend a half hour every other week with each of them; I plan and manage office and staff meetings; I oversee marketing for South Florida along with Matt and Chelsea; I manage communications with Relocation and other partners. I have made it my business to raise awareness of the Raveis name in Palm Beach County so I make sure I always present as the brand ambassador.
I make sure I set aside time for fitness so I can go the distance. (I plan to live to 120 at least 😊)
What opportunities has working for Raveis given you?
Raveis has given me the opportunity to be on the ground floor of what promises to be a major expansion on the East Coast of Florida. I’ve had to re-sharpen all my “pencils” to adapt to a new team and different way of doing business and I am grateful for that. I always feel great support from the Raveis family and Executives and I am very grateful for that as well.
What are your greatest strengths?
Adaptability, resourcefulness, fearlessness, empathy, humor, intelligence.
What is the key to your success?
See my mantras above. Plus, it’s a well-known fact that I always have my people’s back.

What does Raveis mean to you?
Vision.
Have you had to overcome any obstacles? How did Raveis help you?
In Palm Beach County, as a newer player, we have to overcome obstacles daily. The support of the Raveis executives including my SVPs Matt & Molly is priceless.
What’s your best advice for someone new to the industry?
In my spare time, I am writing a book about called “You have Your License Now What?”. Maybe Raveis can publish it ☺
